Jimmie Foxx’s 50 home runs for the 1938 Red Sox stood as the franchise record until David Ortiz hit 54 dingers in 2006. Foxx also compiled 175 RBI and a .349 batting average on his way to winning the 1938 MVP award.
Oldtime Game History
Daniel Arrig Koh, chief of staff for Boston Mayor Marty Walsh, wore this uniform in 2016-17. He wore it again in 2021 while serving as chief of staff for the United States Department of Labor. He is a longtime player in various summer amateur leagues, including the Boston Cutters.
Two participants who have worn this uniform went on to play professional baseball. Zak Farkes of Harvard University, who wore it in 2002, was drafted by the Red Sox in 2004. Patrick Bresnehan of Arizona State, who wore it in 2004, was selected in the fifth round of the 2006 MLB Draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates.
